I cannot say enough good things about RE/MAX in general and Kevin Stewart in particular ! Late in 2012, my wife and I decided to relocate to the Macomb County area of Michigan. We asked our Colorado RE/MAX realtor if she knew anyone in this area she could recommend. Without hesitation she said the person we needed to talk to was Kevin Stewart. We contacted him and set up some viewings for January 2013 – not the best time to be viewing vacancies in Michigan. He had half a dozen 3 bedroom showings set up for our first day of house-hunting. That evening, my wife and I decided to expand the search to 2 bedroom properties with options to finish a basement to add a third bedroom. Without flinching, Kevin scheduled another set of showings for the next day. After 2 days of unproductive searching, Kevin suggested we look at new construction that might not be immediately available, might be better suited to our desires. He showed us a condominium model that just knocked our socks off ! Unfortunately, all of the units under construction whose floor plan we liked were already reserved by other buyers. We put our name in on a waiting list for one location we really liked. We returned home with plans to return to the area in April for more house hunting. While we were back in Colorado, Kevin kept in weekly contact with us, the builder, and the new construction salesperson. In February, Kevin was instrumental in convincing the salesperson that “interested” buyers who had not put up any earnest money should be dumped in favor of serious buyers with money in hand. Amazingly, the unit we had our eye on suddenly became available to us ! Kevin worked with the seller and emailed us paperwork to initiate the sale. He kept in contact with us throughout this process. The April house hunting trip was converted into a trip to pick out interior electrical and plumbing fixtures, carpeting and flooring, cabinets and counter tops. Kevin volunteered to accompany us to the closing and everything worked like clockwork. Meanwhile, our house in Colorado had not sold yet. Kevin and his office kept in touch with our Colorado RE/MAX realtor, who did a magnificent job in hiring and overseeing contractors who removed wall paper, shampooed carpets, shoveled snow and cleaned up our house for selling. When a buyer was found, Kevin volunteered his office for notary and faxing services for the sale. Meanwhile the Colorado RE/MAX realtor had contractors in to cleanup items on the inspection report that the new buyers wanted fixed. The sale of our Colorado home went without a hitch. It could have been extremely stressful working a sale from out of town. Kevin removed all that stress and made it an enjoyable experience. My family and I have been long-time friends and clients of Kevin Stewart and his team. Over many years, we've bought and sold several properties for our kids with Kevin and his team's help. This year, my sister and I needed help selling two homes after my brother's passing. It was a no-brainer to call the Stewart Team, and as usual they did a very fine job for us. Kevin came out personally to advise on how to prepare our first house for a good sale, and kept in touch with us as clean out was progressing. When we were ready to show the house, Kevin's fantastic photographer took outstanding pictures to present the home in its best light. We had about a hundred walk-thrus in the first 2 weeks, and accepted an offer at asking price. All the complexities of the closing were handled smoothly, even though our situation was somewhat unique legally. Today we were happy to close!
